Sectu - Nefarious
Formed as Cimmerian Dome during 2010 the band changed its name to Sectu and 2011 released the album Inundate, in 2012 the second album "Gerra" was released, good reviews and concerts followed”
Fiery Initiator
Typical death metal but executed to perfection. The crippling rhythms run riot across the ears. Hard hitting and virulent it sweeps consistently to engage in an unbridled swathe of deathly passion.
Onset Of Destruction
The anticipation builds nicely on this track as riffs are sourced from a fast paced guitar and beats are expelled in bludgeoning fashion.
Perpetual Spectre
Undiluted and darkening rhythms blend together swiftly joined by a smouldering vocal imposing an impending doom on the aural. Its epic riotous journey and seismic qualities know no bounds.
Tenebrous
Holding a predatory stance this track sends chills down the backbone as it slowly crushes it with an unleashed contagion of licks and hooks, whilst the snarling vocal preys on the source from within its sinewy twists.
Convergence
Immediately pleasing as a run of riffs and battering of beats impose a smothering rhythm, emerging as one of the strongest tracks on the album so far and no doubt will be in for extra subsequent listens.
“It’s a genre that sits well within my comfort zone and although on a few occasions I have to move outside the box, I like to nestle into a dark corner with my headphones on and sit and salivate for a while on a hearty slab of death metal so I can pick at the flesh on its bones and believe me – this bone has been well and truly picked!”
River Of Oblivion
Emotively coaxing it explodes into a fierce and sultry persuasion that is harsh as it is edgy, showing plenty of depth within its fiery belly.
Usurper
The intricacies of this twisting and turning embrace of extreme ferociousness plows across the ears with utter abandon. With emotions on full alert it contagiously feasts on the flesh in no uncertain terms of its sheer hunger.
The Wanderer
A vicious and solid attack on the senses putting them in overdrive as the beats furiously pound to a constant riff and deep gruff vocal onslaught.
Summary
I would have been more surprised if this album had not reached expectations due to just the location of the band – Sweden. The seeming masters of death metal. They know how to execute and smite its contenders with the flick of their hand.
Satisfying and intrusive the music is a very mature blend of raw and passion infused rhythms with chilling structures that bode well for provoking stark imagination.
Sectu have ticked all the boxes here and surpassed expectations with a big ‘thumbs up’ Persistent in strong delivery each track owns the listener with compelling eagerness and enthusiasm.
I mentioned subsequent listens for the track ‘Convergence’ However as the album came to a close I had to rethink this and decided to play the entire album again – the purpose being, just to make sure I didn’t miss anything, plus I love death metal - so no brainer really!

Great album indeed.
