Radical Nerve Distortion - Incubator Of Psychosis

Hardcore and thrash/crossover is something that goes down well with a group of people together drinking beer and generally enjoying life, RND continue on from the last release I reviewed with another solid effort. The vocals are still strong and command dominance when you hear any track on this album but this time around the band have introduced more instrumental pieces (more guitar riffs and solos). Subsequently, their music is busier and a little more complex than the more straight ahead US hardcore you may be used too. More thrash riffs appear; especially the crossover style for which they will mostly be labelled as no doubt, but the frequent spell of underground aggression is something that makes this album a touch above the average.

‘Swarmchaser’ and ‘When Fingers Become Fist’ are altogether vicious; the sound is however not quite there yet. In keeping with tradition I feel there is a little something missing in the sound, I want more as it is a little thin. Whilst I am pleased there are no triggered over processed drums or random nonsense breakdowns, I feel I want something more aggressive, even more than what this band have already improved upon on their last release.

I am not totally complaining and if you check out the brutal opener ‘Choke Tool’ you will hear this mighty trio giving their all and giving you the listener some hardcore with some more subtle bouts of metal that inevitably up the ante when it comes to the resultant adrenaline rush.
