Obscura/Cannibal Corpse - LIVE
date: Friday, April 17 2009
venue: Station 4 in St. Paul Minnesota, USA
Once again, on a Friday night in Minnesota, Metal reigns supreme. Tonight brings Germany’s Obscura on their first tour though the U.S.A with headliners, Cannibal Corpse. It was a warm day here, and as then venue filled up, the inside temperature was scorching.
Kicking off the evening was Obscura. Containing past members of bands like Pestilence and Necrophagist, this band is a force to be reckoned with. The band didn’t waste any time with their opening slot, and started right into their 30 minute set. Promoting their first release Cosmogenisis, they played a total of six tracks. Their unmatched precision and technicality was amazing. Unfortunately the crowd was somewhat unresponsive, though receptive with applause and cheers. Definitely check this band out if you are a fan of Necrophagist, Death, or Pestilence.
Obscura’s set list was as follows:
The Anticosmic Overload
Choir of Spirits
Universe Momentum
Incarnated
Desolate Spheres
Cosmogenesis
Closing out the evening was none other than the mighty Cannibal Corpse. With the recent release of their newest album, Evisceration Plague, the band has begun a massive tour campaign. With no need for intros, the band took the stage and started slaughtering. With murderous precision they tore through a total of twenty tracks, at least one song from every album. The band played very well through new tracks and old favorites. As with any Cannibal Corpse show, head banging only ceased between songs, George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher even dared the audience to try and keep up with his head banging. Despite the intense heat of the venue, the crowd went crazy, and the band played an amazing set ending a great night.
Cannibal Corpse’s set list was as follows:
Evisceration Plague
The Time to Kill is Now
Disfigured
Death Walking Terror
I Cum Blood
Fucked With a Knife
Sentenced to Burn
Evidence in the Furnace
The Wretched Spawn
Perverse Suffering
Scalding Hail
Make Them Suffer
Pit of Zombies
Shatter Their Bones
Vomit the Soul
Priests of Sodom
Unleashing the Bloodthirsty
A Skull Full of Maggots
Hammer Smashed Face
Stripped, Raped and Strangled
