Cannibal Corpse - Bloodthirst

Hearing this release years ago didn't strike me as much as it has recently. As a complete 5-piece lineup, Cannibal Corpse blows away every previous release since 'Butchered at Birth' (1991). The band seemed to fit all of the riffing, lyrics/vocals, bass and drums into a complete death metal onslaught masterpiece! Every track on here is like a 9/10 or 10/10 because everything fit in so well plus a great production by Colin Richardson.

George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher is more technical here vocal-wise plus he exhibits more screams on this release than previous ones pretty much in perfect time and precision with the rest of the band. Both guitarists (Pat O'Brien & Jack Owen) blew forth some great solo work that in combination with Alex Webster on bass they arranged their songwriting into being technical but very very catchy riffs! There are no complaints here about boring guitar or mediocre band performance CC absolutely crushes with 'Bloodthirst'!

The artwork once again is devious but not as extreme as 'The Wretched Spawn' (2004). Nevertheless, a gory cover revealing songs to be heard by absolutely every death metal fan! The most notorious tracks on here (but all of them rule) would be the opener 'Pounded into Dust', 'The Spine Splitter' and 'Sickening Metamorphosis'. Of course the lyrics are vile as previous releases as are more recent releases as well. They represent CC well because they really give the idea that they are a band not to bereckoned with. Their style WILL never change.
