Androphagous/Toxic Revolution - Split
The Spanish label FDA-Rekotz is releasing a split CD with two German bands. The first one is Androphagous and the second band is Toxic Revolution. At first sight there is no connection between them but there is. There is another band called Keitzer (also from Germany) and the vocalist is Christian. And let this guy also sing in Androphagous AND Toxic Revolution.
Androphagous kicks off with 13 tracks in a rapid tempo. The drums are really played as being hit by thousand killer bees. The vocals are raw and shouty while guitars are the opposite of the drums, they are leaning towards a crunchy melody riffing. Togther Androphagous is not the most extreme grindcore but their songs are a bit addictive.
Toxic Revolution is a bit more funny grindcore and not so fast as Androphagous. With funny I mean the lyrics and subject. Toxic Revolution is doing songs with more moshing mid parts. Maybe this because they are also putting hardcore influence and also Christian is sounding more hardcore. Also some will hear thrash edges but they are the band on this split that has the most variation in the song structures.
I like both of them with a slight advantage for Androphagous but you have to decide for yourself by checking out their sites and listen to the tunes.
