Vixen - Live & Learn

Yeah, Vixen singer Jenna Sanz-Agero sounds a little like Natalie Merchant with a little more rockin' edge, yeah baby, yeah! First song, "Anyway" is pleasant. Nice melodic guitar line, good chord changes. The second one, the title track is nice, good vocal harmonies in the chorus -- watch that boner bass note -- ouch!! -- but overall -- hey yeah, i'm feeling ya. I'm getting caught up in the emotion of it, I'm feeling it! And isn't that why you listen to music anyways, to feel SOMETHING?

If you don't mind putting up with a gaff here and there (for example, the girls' re-make of Bowie's "Suffragette City" just fucken sucks) I would say there is enough skilled craftsmanship -- or should i say craftwomanship -- in the way these songs are arranged, especially the guitars, to keep you hooked. "Live and Learn" is a solid release from these gals who used to tour with the Scorpions and Bon Jovi in the 80s, or so i've heard. I think you gals ought to give those guys a call. I'm sure they have a stage to share with you in Vegas or Laughlin, or maybe one of those Indian bingo casinos, no problem!
