Tribe Of Pazuzu – Heretical Uprising
Tribe Of Pazuzu are a new project masterminded by Nick Sagias formally of Soulstorm, Overthrow and Pestilence. The quality of these songs in demo form must have been undeniable because for this debut EP he has managed to hook in Incantation’s John McEntee and Crytopsy’s drum extraordinaire Flo Mounier.
Here you get 5 tracks that go straight for the jugular. Powered by driving rhythms that Immolation would be proud of. In terms of atmosphere the band have the darkness that Immolation and Incantation stir up but musically they mix the technicality of Nile or Hate Eternal with their riffs and the rhythm, melody and overall catchiness of Morbid Angel. 'Indoctrinated Into Enslavement' actually nicks the riff off of 'Summoning Redemption' but I’ll let that slide!
So think Morbid Angel verging on Hate Eternal but the songs are easy to digest. The riffs and melodies are instantly memorable. Take the lead on 'Heretical Uprising' or 'Proliferation Of The Final Plague' for example.
Quite frankly, the only thing wrong with this EP is that it’s not an album! This is a fantastic release. Where they go from here I’m not sure because I can’t see how you will get all these musicians in the same place at one time for a tour BUT it’s definitely a strong beginning. I look forward to seeing this bands next move.
