Torture Killer – Phobia
If you’re into death metal, the name Torture Killer will probably ring a bell. Many will recognize the song title of a Six Feet Under classic, which this band have name themselves after. These guys started out as a coverband for fun and got Chris Barnes to sing on their second album "Swarm"! The third album "Sewers" didn’t have the same success and the band decided to invite yet another frontman for their fourth album "Phobia". Pessi Haltsonen does the singing with exception of the fourth track: Chris Barnes is back.
This new album mixes Six Feet Under’s aggressive sound in tracks like ‘Phobia’ and ‘Await His Third Arrival’ with the grooving sound of Obituary in ‘The Devil’s Rejects’ and ‘March Of Death’. The result isn’t new, isn’t original, but it’s damn good. The track ‘Written In Blood’, featuring Chris Barnes recognisable voice, could just as well have been one of his own newer songs.
"Phobia" gives you 35 minutes of grooving death metal. If you like old school US death metal, you’ll like this. No surprises, just death metal.
