The Bleeding – Morbid Prophecy

London Based Death thrashers “The Bleeding” return with their second full length album. The Bleeding mix the best parts of death metal with the heavier side of thrash. If you look at any of the bands photos and take the four band t-shirts the members are wearing you’ll get the idea. There is nothing complicated here, it’s obvious the guys like who everyone else likes and got together to play some brutal metal, plain and simple and that’s what they did and in fine form!

“Morbid Prophecy” sees the band refine what they have been doing other the course of a couple of EPs and one previous full length album. I know describing a band as a mixture of Death and Thrash is a tired description but I stress the pendulum really swings evenly between the two without either really dominating the sound which is a rare feat. Vocalist Jamie Stungo has a scratchy scorching screech but is also very clear. You can make his lyrics out perfectly.

The band pack a lot into this half hour, while maintaining the heaviness they balance things out in terms of pace and with the right amount of melody to help the songs breath. They change things up with some nice choppy groovy sections. This is displayed perfectly on opening track 'Demonic Oath' and the solos are gorgeous throughout the album. 'Entering The Pandemonium' is simply fantastic. With an infectious riff that you will be humming for hours afterwards and a catchy vocal pattern witch fits perfectly. The title track is also well crafted with a fantastic climax during the last minute or so.

The Bleeding aren’t reinventing the wheel nor are they trying to. Here they deliver their take on a classic recipe. All compact without an ounce of fat on it, you get 8 tracks in 30 minutes jammed packed with shredding riffs, catchy vocals, face melting solos and melodies that jump out and stick with you.
