Stuka Squadron - Tales Of The Ost
Following on from their ‘We Drink Blood’ EP, London’s legion of vampire pilots has engineered a fantastic full debut album. Initially self-released late last year, metalbox recordings have picked up this glorious metal release and are now spreading the undead message across Europe. That is the first crusade of course; it is only a matter of time before these undead souls conquer a more global audience.
Featuring a massive traditional metal production, singer ‘Fang’ Begley continues in his quest to let the world hear his massive vocal range, every line delivers a story, every note sung embellishes metal heritage. The twin guitar attack led by Graveghoul Terrorsound and Gravedigger Cox brings together thoughts of metal legends Maiden and Priest; there is a certain level of class musicianship, and then you take comfort in the arrangements led by the Lord Graham Pyre. One only has to hear such epic metal juggernauts as ‘Zabulon’s Inferno’ to realise there is something special. This is still my stand out song, the way each second plays out, the guitar riffs ensure you are headbanging for glory and the massive masterful arrangement makes you throw a fist high in the air. When you hear majestic vocal notes and some more classic metal, you will truly be quivering in your boots especially with such gems as ‘On the Volga Bridge’ that has a massive sing along element alongside the revelling guitar work, this is metal to the max.
Striding forward and opening new chapters in their respective history, Stuka Squadron defy the critic’s that do not understand their message, their music speaks volumes and ‘Tales of the Ost’ is a real metal behemoth, just like their acclaimed live shows. These blood thirsty vampires are on the verge of making the world their own, and oh how I await the inevitable invasion!
