SMES - Gory Gory Halleluja

S.M.E.S. is a cyber-grind band done with a lot of drum machines and some digital sounds and even a little electric guitar in there somewhere (I could swear I heard it). There are a wide variety of sounds on this release which does make it fun, and the vocals are of the most guttural variety -- we're talking gurgles from the bottom of the insinkerator for sure. S.M.E.S. could be compared to porn-grinders Gut or Neuropathia, but without the heavy guitars.

Erwin de Groot, formerly of Last Days Of Humanity is the founder of S.M.E.S. which by the way is short for "Schijten Met Een Stijve" which is dutch for "To Shit With A Hard-On." "Gory, Gory Halleluja" is the second release from S.M.E.S. and the follow-up to "The Good, The Bad And Me," and again, it is a fun release. Lots of songs that start off with soundclips from movies (I think I heard three from "Scarface") and a a lot of unexpected surprises. I only wish they had remembered to include heavy guitars in the mix.
