Serpent Noir - Seeing Through The Shadow Consciousness

This is one of those records that is so well rounded it's hard to put into words. The riffs and dynamics of the song structure really pull you in the entire time your listening. If you try and do something else you will miss a good part. The drummer is spot on and the production is more than I could ask for. I love when it's gritty but clear enough to hear all the melodies and grooves. What stands out to me the most besides the song writing is the vocals. Ghastly is the best way to describe them. To call them simply wretched would be a cliche understatement. Did a ghoul lay down these vocal tracks or a truly disparaged soul? I vote ghoul. You've got concrete gargling all the way to spoken word and chanting. I suggest reading the lyrics while listening as well to get the full effect. 

Serpent Noir is a band I plan on keeping a close eye on. I look forward to any and everything released by this sick black metal band. I forgot to mention... the drummer is from Ofermod and Nefandus. Now go get your second bangover of the evening.
