Serpent - Beneath The Forest Of The Dead
Finally a new release of Sweden's Serpent. Again a self financed released but now together with a DVD with videoclips. They also continue using specific artwork with the serpent. 3 New songs of which the sound quality differs, the opener "Retaliate" sounds softer and not as clear as the other 2. Still musically the emphasis is on the heavy and powerful riffs and the nice leads. Also Raven is doing chanting singing in the background while the main vocals are raw and thrashy. Tempo of the songs vary from mid to uptempo. On the DVD there are 2 videoclips in which you see the drummer wearing his BRUTALISM shirt. Great and thanks for that. For the "Dead Man Walking" clip (violent and murderous) they did the soundtrack. All together it is a step forward release but I would like to see them record more faster songs towards real death thrash metal.
