Seregon - Disposable Suffering

The UK has had its fair share of thrash bands coming into the scene of late, notably Evile, Savage Messiah and Mutant. Bristol in the South West has it’s own gem, Seregon. One of the hardest touring bands in the land, Seregon’s third EP (but only the second available on CD) ‘Disposable Suffering’ takes their extreme Thrash to a higher plateau. Long time fans of this band will always state that they have a heavy Sepultura influence (pre-Roots), this is true, but they have enough variation and tantric riffing going on the make you forget about those Brazilian Troops of Doom. James’ vocals are powerful and precise with an air of masterful commandment. ‘Band of Brothers’, a live favourite, is a strong tune filled with a furious riff and some well placed changes of pace to let the listener catch their breath, and no doubt the band too! ‘Fuck Shit Up’ is a rebel rousing anthem for the misplaced youth, whilst being frantic; it also shows control and tightness in the arrangements and playing.

‘Disposable Suffering’ shows a giant leap forward for Seregon and UK thrash in general. It’s just a shame that bands as good as this have not been snapped up by labels, whilst lesser talents, albeit from a different thrash approach have achieved greater success with the exception of those bands mentioned earlier whom also deserve their recognition. Seregon are full of energy and musical prowess, check them out, I am doubtful you will be disappointed.
