Reign Of Fury - Psychotic Intentions

UK based Reign Of Fury recently released their brief EP 'Psychotic Intentions.' With a grusome album cover, some might expect a bit of a Goregrind or Death Metal album. However, the band is more along the lines of Melodic Thrash Metal. Touching on bands like Mercyful Fate and Metallica, the music flips between chugging rhythms and faster, more melodic sections. "Disconnected" sounds like a more basic Thrash track, but with a solid sound and clean vocals that don't have that rough edge to them. "Blinding Light Of Betrayal" touches more on Power Metal, letting the vocals have more presence but trading that for less interesting guitar rhythms. "Heaven Waits..." sounds more up-to-date and the best track on the album with some touches of growling to make it more appealing than the others which may appear a bit too melodramatic. With an uglier vocal appoach, it makes the instruments sound a lot more beautiful and helps them stick out. Overall, this is a good start for Reign Of Fury as they bring forth sounds from the past, but more updated. The EP is brief, but an introduction for what lies ahead in the future.
