Phalloplasty - Systematic Mutilation
When I was going to listen to Phalloplasty, with only preliminary information about them, I expected to hear the usual brutal "chopping". Feeling of monotony and boredom has disappeared, better - it doesn't come near: I heard quite interesting riffs, items of slam included in the general rhythm, also the melody that was carefully hidden behind a brutal gut vocal. However, the final "picture" has formed in my consciousness after only a few listens of "Systematic Mutilation".
In the first place, the sound quality attracts attention: pleases level at which the sound was made. I would like to mention a good guitar sound, as well as the overall quality of the recording, that sometimes lacks some similar brutal bands. The vocalist is trying very hard! He emits multiple inhuman sounds like creaks, growls of wild animals, ominous scream of extraterrestrial: by the way, all these are properties of good guttural.
Personally, I was faced with situations where feeling sleepy while listening to some of brutal bands. Listening to the music of Phalloplasty want to keep me awake absolutely. They have achieved suitable variations between the tempo and guitar riffs. The combination of the sound and the music itself also holds the attention well.
It seems to me, the album "Systematic Mutilation" can appeal not only to the usual fans of extreme music and brutal paraphernalia, but also to the connoisseurs of the genre. Although in principle, this album is sustained in brutal minimalism style.
