Paranorm - The Edge Of Existence

Progressive Thrash from Sweden with real balls and a particular Germanic feel…is what would immediately describe this thrashing monster. Paranorm have a real buzz about then during this recording that exhumes tight intricate riffing matched with some breakneck speed that writhe amongst gnarly vocals and is delivered very much in the vein of Kreator. ‘Sunstorm’ is an absolute delight to listen too. There is depth, a feeling of engagement through the arrangement but the jewel feature is the combination and variation within the tracks time signatures. If you move further into this release, well, going back to the opener ‘Into the Unknown’, this has a trademark Megadeth and Kreator instrumental beginning that develops into some nihilist thrash peppered with some real cool riffs and instrumental pieces. Paranorm set the bar high, it is your duty to comply, this is cool material.

The EP is consistent and strong, the closing track ‘Desolate Worlds’ takes on many forms, it fulfils most of your musical desires for this genre from tranquillity to Teutonic guitar solos and rhythms. This is their second release, with all previous material available at their band camp site. This is a band worthy of checking out; this is furious, tight and aggressive, just how this music style should be.
