Pancrectomy - Insulin Induced Coma

Cats have Maggots and I have diabetes. Now that's something new. The main man and basically the only dude behind this UK band, mr Calum Forrest suffers from type 1 diabetes. Despite sitting alone in his room and crying bout it though, he decides to write a death metal album. When you first come upon this first EP from Pancrectomy, you read at the song titles and think, ok c'mon... another funny, sarcastic brutal death/slam band. But dude... Hell no. Pancrectomy mean every word written in that damn booklet. Once you know the story behind it, Pancrectomy's first EP elevates to a whole new standard. Serious shit man. But enough with the drama. Here's where we review music right? Well again... fucking impressive.

Pancrectomy's foundations are deep into slam. Obvious enough by the heaviness of the guitar riffs and the bulldozer bass guitar but here's the fun part. When you think of slam and think boring, you might wanna think again after giving Insulin Induced Coma a fair trial. I mean... the guy is a genius. Blends his slam with brutal death interleaves, goregrind beats and some grindcore shit here and there, creating diversity but on the same time, maintains its cohesiveness to a high level.

EP includes 6 tracks and is something less than 8 minutes. Before you know it you're on track 4 and 'Pick Up My Perscription', takes you through a slam-brutal death hall way, throwing you to track 5 called 'Ketone Acidosis', under a black metal paroxysmal riff with heavy shrieking vocals surrounding it, ending in a slam crescendo heavier than The Nutty Professor himself. You have to listen to it till it starts making sense cos I gotta admit. If someone told me all that could sum up at a song, i would call him nuts. But damn it now I have to  eat my words.

This EP of Pancrectomy has set expectations high. I mean... Nothing is by luck here. Every aspect is taken care of with caution aiming in the best possible result. Production is the best fitting. Loud and fat, giving space though to every instrument, so nothing gets in front of anything. 100% clarity but on the same time everything works for the common good bringing out a ferocious sound fitting for this type of extreme music. Then the cover. A whole new level I'm tellin ya. Comic book artwork in the style of Happy tree friends. The main color is purple/pink and still... what we're talking bout here is a heavy as fuck, brutal death/slam release from Rotten Music. Can't beat that. Simply Awesome!
