North-West Slam Fest - Crepitation / Kastrated / Ingested
These three UK gore grind brutal bands, Crepitation, Kastrated, and Ingested have each submitted five tracks to this Grindethic Records release NORTH-WEST SLAM FEST. The result exhibits powerful variance between each band and altogether an awesome performance of metal sets.
Crepitation opens the three-way split NORTH-WEST SLAM FEST with a track called “Effervescent Oesophagus Pumps.” The best thing I can think of as description for this band’s style of vocals is the sound I imagine would occur at the moment of screaming death for every insect in the forest. The music is proper brutality, but the vocals are completely awesome. Smooth gutturals, higher pitched screeches, and tight growls. Well done.
Kastrated develops some humor into their work by opening their section of the split with some guy talking to a girl about taking a dump in a graveyard. Gross, but funny. Kastrated plays perfect brutal death. I particularly recommend “Frankenchild” because of its rhythm stops, guitar wails, and subtle stops.
Ingested does something else. They open their section with some electro-noise and some “news” footage that reminds me of The Berserker (Australia). I fully enjoy the noisy build from the first track to the low guttural growl vox of “Butchered and Devoured.” And that is what this band sounds like in their vox, like a human machine chomping away at human bits. This is a superb three way split. Each part is well worth many listens.
