Nordfrost - Naturgewalten

Brutally dark underground German Pagan Black Metal at it's best. Nordfrost, after numerous live gigs and with a Split CD (2011 in cooperation with the band Pure Scorn), have finally graced us with  their first full length album "Naturgewalten" which translates to "natural forces or the natural forces (as in the forces of nature). This can be considered a new band however they have enough talent and experience under their belt to not ignore and prove solid with this 2015 full length release.

"Naturgewalten" is definitely an album which deserves notice and respect and hailing from the German Pagan Black Metal scene it truly does stand out on it's own. All tracks are in German and if you do not understand the language it really doesn't matter you will understand it's core by the darkened cold black pagan vibe found within each of these tracks. However, if you are able to understand German then I must state that you will truly benefit from the message and story found within these tracks which speak of paganism, nature and anti-humanity how the human race are scum to put it simply.

This is a brutally elegant album with tons of melody, great vibe and stunning musicianship. Catchy riffs and intelligent solo work. The bass and drumming are tight as could be and the vocals really bring it all together. These are some of the best black metal vocals I have heard in a while. Not over low nor high, great aim and not over screechy also love the creepy haunting whispers as especially found in the track "Leerer Pfad". Love the softer notes and sections found within some of these tracks which adds to the diversity of this album and yes this is a diverse black metal album that still holds a true pagan underground sound and doesn't sound sold out or commercial in anyway, it simply is just very well blended and put together. I would have to call this a very mature sound of raw black. Well mixed and not over produced this album is ACE!

The cover art is incredible! Created by Kogaion Art whom designed it specifically for this release. Nordfrost with "Naturgewalten" manage to bring it's listener deep into the forest and into a tale of both dream and scream that one does not wish to ever leave. Highly recommend you giving this album a listen. For myself this was a total please to review and am sure all pagan black metal lovers will be drooling over this one.
