Nocturnal Blood - Devastated Graves - The Morbid Celebration

Hailing from California of all places, by the name you don’t think about sunshine and surfing or even the bay area. These chaps are thoroughly in the satanic death metal legion, you would not expect anything else from this label, but after initial impressions, there is not much to distinguish the tracks on this release, but there is a definite feel and energy of evil times ahead for you listeners.

Vocals are harsh, the general tempo is fast, heart racing guitar pounding and drum skin abuse is mandatory, if you like your bestial death, with a touch of ancient teachings like Blasphemy, Von, or Gravewurm (you also get these influences confirmed if you check out their website), then you’re in the mood for ‘Impure Devotion’ or the likes of ‘Ritual Lust’. Musically there is, as mentioned earlier, not much emphasis on technical wizardry or constructive arrangements, this is pure evil, filth and black mass rituals. Ghastly Apparitio handles all instruments of torture although there is a live band made up of musicians from other outfits, I suppose this is one of the traits with one man operations, you do not have variation or the influence of colleagues, but the one man vision works well in this instance, I have heard a lot worse than this and in actual fact, depending on your mood, this is actually quite a healthy dose of madness for an evening of occult teachings.

  1. Devastated Graves
  2. Death Calls
  3. Impure Devotion
  4. Ghouls Wrath
  5. Chaos Mass
  6. Ritual Lust
  7. Triumph Of Impurity
