Natron – Rot Among Us
Quite five long years after their last masterpiece “Livid Corruption”, Italy's long running death metallers Natron are finally back with their 6th album “Rot Among Us”: we are simply in front of one of the most respectable and innovative European death metal band since 1992 and this new chapter is only the umpteenth proof. Always influenced by the 80's thash metal gods like Slayer or Coroner and by the brutality of the death/grind 90's masters like Terrorizer or Suffocation, Natron are now probably more straight in the face than ever and the opening title track should be a perfect example: a prodigious bridge between the fury of Suffocation and the atmospheres of Immolation.
But also the grinding “Dead Beat”, the thrashing “Bullet Of God” (a track that should fit in the masterpieces created few years ago by a great band like The Crown) or again “Heads Are Rolling” and its death&roll ala Entombed... The whole “Rot Among Us” is skilfully built on Natron well-enstablished trademarks: the psycothic guitars of the riffmaster Domenico Mele and the devastating drumming of Max Marzocca for a final result that it's a real assault. The great performance of the new vocalist Nicola Bavaro is the last winning point for an album without subsidences and uncertainties, characterized by a reigning dark and nihilist mood, played and composed by great musicians; buy it and follow Natron on tour: you'll be simply infected.
