Modus Delicti - Nobody

This is the first full-length album for these brutal death metallers from Italy. Formed originally from the remains of Nobody, they split in 2006 but reformed the same year. The name was changed due to some of the old members being in a court case for murder.  The deathcore element focuses within their themes of gore and death throughout their music. According to their MySpace, they also sing about serial killers and psychological disorder. Since 2006 there have been many changes, all except Clod (drummer) and the band have been on hiatus due to this being his side-project.

Although this is a side project, there has been considerable time and effort put in not only to find the perfect members, but also to create some damned fine music. The instrumentals and the vocals work perfectly together, with the backing and the lead both sharing some of the duties on each track. Their different tonal ranges can be heard, as one goes deeper than the other, which is slightly screamo but not excessively so.

The stutter of a drumbeat can be heard at times, primarily behind the vocals as the guitars build the noise between them both. This well-mixed album doesn’t prioritise one thing over another and this works seamlessly together as each piece is highlighted in turn throughout. A favourite song for the drums especially is Family Dinner. They work well with the slightly harsher guitars and the vocals that sit at the fore for most of this song. The drummer is highly talented and this shows in his rapid change of rhythm throughout this song and the album.
