Misery Index - Discordia
Ranking past members of DYING FETUS, I must say to have always considered MISERY INDEX to have taken the hardcore edge of FETUS a bit further, and Discordia is no exception. Having seen both FETUS & MISERY INDEX live, I must say that both manage to get a crowd going, yet what characterizes INDEX is that they seem to convey a more street mob feel, a more hardcore edge. Do not take this wrong, MISERY INDEX on Discordia is still primarily a metal band, yet track after track, the call to the pit is strong and unrelenting. The characteristics of metal like solos and drum blastbeats are all across the place and each time performed with utmost precision despite the constant riff changes, yet to their credit, they simultaneously manage to bring back an old carefree attitude of hardcore that influenced the outbreak of grind in the early days. So in short, Discordia peals through one’s flesh and kicks into one’s ass like a sledgehammer without mercy.
