Misanthropic Rage – Igne Natura Renovatur Integra

I reviewed Misanthropic Rage’s debut album on this site in 2016 and I really enjoyed the different styles and textures they mixed into their black metal. It was interesting and different. I never imagined it would be a precursor to this. “Igne Natura Renovatur Integra” is where Misanthropic Rage have arrived. This album is stunning.

From the opening chords and ritual chanting at the beginning of opening track 'Call All Your Angels' the albums is just full of atmosphere and when it explodes into life it’s just terrific. Howling, tortured vocals and melody is retained all the time the band turn up the heaviness. 'Become A God Man' is probably where they go balls out, it’s them at their fastest and more abrasive but they still add in a catchy as hell melody running through the song and when it breaks into a mid-section at the end it turns your stomach like going over a hill! 'Abstrakt' starts off with a mid-paced groove before out of nowhere the song switches, like a sudden fall off a cliff you are just thrown into a realm of controlled chaos

It’s everything I want from a black metal album. It’s not the heaviest you’ll hear but it will be the most atmospheric and you will not be able to stop playing it. This is the album Misanthropic Rage have always threatened and have been building up to on their first two releases and they have completely out down themselves. A fantastic album.
