Mesrine/Sposa In Alto Mare - Grinders
This is a seventeen track split by Mesrine from Quebec in Canada and Sposa in Alto Mare from Italy, now I love grind core so this will do me nicely, two cracking grind bands and seventeen tracks of cracking tunes!! The first seven tracks are from Canadian grinders Mesrine and are all great grindcore, from a punky vein, this outfit have been around since 1997 and it shows, some class guitar work from Fred and Jack ably backed up by Esteve on bass and Dan on drums, Steve does vocal duties and very good he is too, real angry stuff from this guy, you can feel the anger being spat out form this band, great stuff.
This first part of the split is really well done all the guys are top notch, some great guitar work and drumming, check out “Deadly Sinner” which is a beast of a track and really sums this band up nicely, love it to bits, great start to this album now for the other part of the split.
Italian grinders Sposa In Alto Mare have the next ten tracks on this split and they just carry on the good work started by Mesrine, not a band I know much about to be honest but I will be checking them out for other releases as they fucking rock!! In a punky vein again with some cracking guitars on their tracks, they get a real meaty sound to the guitar. This outfit have a great sense of humour too, it comes out in a good few of their songs and adds to the whole album, you get the feeling they don’t take themselves too seriously and that’s a good thing. I liked all their tracks but pushed for a favourite I would go with the track “Kurose” which is a belting Agothocles cover, not a bad track on their part of this split to be honest.
Well you get seventeen blasting tracks of pure grindcore on this album from two bands who come at it from different angles but still get the job done nicely, I love grind core so this was a joy to review as it’s a fucking belting album, well recommended.
