Master - Collection Of Souls

No words needed to introduce legendary Master. Either you love their simple Death / Thrash Metal or not. What we have here is the reissue of Masters "Collection Of Souls" album. Originally released back in 1993 this disc contains the songs of the "Final Word" demo (1995) as well as the tracks of the split recording with Excision (1996) as bonus. Seems like no single tune was remastered or re-recorded, because the songs exactly sound the same and the demo tracks quality is almost below the underground. Many hardliners may consider this as "cult" or whatever, but in my opinion Master would have done better, if they have added previously unreleased material or simply a few new songs. Anyways, this reissue is a good entrance for those who still don't know Master or the bands earlier work. "Collection Of Souls" is a bit more Thrash Metal influenced than the previous masterpiece "On The Seventh Day God Created… Master" and still has its good moments after all this years. If you were born too late or simply missed this piece of raw music, feel free to listen to it and enjoy the charm of early 90's Thrash Metal. But don't expect technical brilliance or memorable progressive complexity - This is pure, brutal and primitive to the core and nothing else. Recommended if you like Abomination, Deathstrike, early Sodom or similar bands that don't give a shit about trends or conventions.
