Malas - Path To Holocaust
Formed in 2000 in Chicago and currently consisting of Alex McIntire (guitars), Erik Pertl (vocals & bass) and Jim Kerley (drums). Their first album "Conquest" was released in 2005 and now we are glad to get "Path To Holocaust" in our hands, the last full-length of Malas.
My first feeling when you start to hear this album is to say a big WOW! From the depths of my soul, true death metal old school, of those works that do not leave even the slightest break between songs, just brutal blast beats, death-thrashers riffs and headbanging everywhere!
Although I feel a strong influence of bands like Celtic Frost, Obituary, or my dearest Devastation, the set of their compositions and their primitive essence, in regards to the sound quality of this work, Malas makes it clear that they are a band with personality, we note the years of their career and also a strong thrash metal taste in songs like 'Ascension', 'Violent Excecutioner' or 'Disgraced', although I must say the prevailing essence is death metal, and, to make it very clear, we find songs such as 'Path To Holocaust', opening track and the one that gives title to the album, 'Bitches's Sabbath' and the overwhelming and totally brutalized 'Hellfire' undoubtedly one of the best songs on the album.
The truth in my opinion is that Malas is a band highly recommended to our readers, and not just death metal fans, but also listeners of all kinds of extreme music!
