Lihhamon – Doctrine

There’s not much in background with this band. It’s a brand new project from Germany and this is their first release. "Doctrine" is half hour of abrasive raw, nasty death metal in the vein of Angelcorpse and Incantation with a black metal twist.

It’s dark and atmospheric, it sounds like it’s been buried for 100 years and has been dug up. It’s an ugly album in all the best ways. Take early Mayhem and old school death metal with harsh snarling vocals. There’s no melodic parts just harshness throughout apart from a pause of church bells and chanting before kicking off again. It’s fast and furious but the band know when to pause and through in a slow sludgy part much in the style of Obituary. It’s actually plays like a perfect live set. You can picture the band blazing through these songs in a dark dingy club.

There’s not much really more to tell here without repeating myself but this album is awesome. It’s half hour of pure dark, filthy death metal. It sounds just like how the artwork looks. Highly recommended.
