Impetigo - Ultimo Mondo Cannibale
This re-release we have to go back to 1990 when it was released on Wild Rags. Due to censorship the cover art had to be changed so the gory element was underneath the skin. But in 2006 Razorback Records decided to re-release it with the original artwork, extended liner notes which are very interesting to read to understand all the shit the band went thru, lyrics, pics and artwork. But that is not all as you also get the "Faceless" EP outta 1991 and two live tracks from the 1992 Rhode Island Death Fest. Musically you know what to expect as most of you have something of Impetigo (original or covers by other bands). Songs in mid and fast tempo gore grind, interacting with samples from horror or canibal movies. The vocals are low grunting or pitching, just extreme and remember we are talking about 1990. The sound is raw, meshy, chaotic and chatchy. Because it is not high technical but rather simple it doesn't mean it is bad. Consider we are in the early 90's and this type of metal is harsh and very extreme. Together with the artwork, lyrical theme, their street punk image, they can be called a cult band for sure.
