Hymenotomy - Some Necrophiles Having Sex With Naked Autopsied Bodies In The Morgue
Hymenotomy are a brutal slamming death metal band from Estonia. Whilst being relatively fresh into the death metal world, Hymenotomy are somewhat way ahead of their peers and many other slam bands out there. The album's title, cover art, and most likely lyrics (If I could find them) represent what the slammy genre has always been about; Brutality, gore, perversion etc, and in this instance, the band take themselves seriously when dedicating this record to the 70's serial killer, Edmund Kemper.
The CD's inlay contains some of the most disturbing images I've probably ever seen, and I'm assuming the mangled body parts within are real pictures, as the band seem content on thanking best-gore.com. Personally, this is a step too far out of my comfort zone, but luckily the album is beyond enjoyable with great production and mesmerising slam riffs and furious blastbeats, topped off with inhuman guttural vocals and the occasional pig squeal.
Whilst perhaps not intentionally making this album look funny with the song titles and cover artwork, it does come as hilarious. Song titles such as 'Erected Phallus Gets Fingered By Two Fat Horny Whores', 'Romantic Rape Fantasy About Pegging Your Grandfather With A Strap-On Knife Dildo', 'Human Feces Collector', and my personal favourite, 'Stealing A Young Sexy Goat From An Angry Farmer In Order To Have Sex With It While Unexpected Farmer Dismembers Your Hand With A Blunt Machete'. Oozing with riffage assault, the song titles only encourage slam fanatics to enjoy the genre that little more, and as the final track's sample plays "This is sick, and we want it."
Whether or not Hymenotomy have taken it over the top with their style, there's no doubt that there's definitely fans to cater for here. Especially when the music is some of the best in the extreme metal world, and this proved as one of my favourite releases last year.
