The first time I put this CD in my player, I turn my face and asked What the...? Who posted me this piece of crap? The guillotine shined over their heads since the beginning, and I was preparing a slowly and painful death. But, after a second hear, (and a relaxed – eclectic mind) the band started to win me. Well, I can’t say that is one of my favorites, but I admit that I like this stuff in the end. What's more, there are some very cool tracks. With the conviction of making music for angry people, these gentleman are making a very original project that could remember the unleashed insensate of Porno for Pyros; the masturbating, oniric parody of Primus, or the funny but neurological twisted Mr. Bungle. (What!!?) Yes sir. Hot Buttered Anal are a couple of metalheads exiled in a rock metal – experimental (oscillating from side to side) - mad - partying - angry - pissed of, and reflexive band, making songs just to have a weekend at the psychiatric hospital. Titles as "Choke The Bitch" (a punk rock song with an "end" all ladies are going to love), "I Want A Girl" (another punk rock song in the vein of latest MISFITS) and "Duct Tape And Sausages" (a serial killer song in American folk style) could classified them as misogynist. But, when we read the lyrics closely, there is a very well done double sense. Lyrics in "No One Left" shows this extreme metal background of chief Bob Cocks, who writes almost all. “Everything Sucks" is one of my favorites. Pretty and melodic a capella song, with a acoustic guitar, it could be heard at the stairways of a campus college. Camouflage on shinning faces and good manners. My mother would hear and love it. Until we read the lyrics. Seems to be extracted from a deeply infernal black metal album, misanthropic and anti human one can imagine. "Dear God" is another example of the radical and twisted mind of Cocks.

I know this band has not received good reviews in some "alternative" media. Mainly because of their "not completely metal style". If you want to relax with a very good independent and original production, away from extreme metal, give Hot Buttered Anal a chance. Radical metalheads, stay away 10 miles!
