Hordes Of Decay - The Kings Will Be Ready
This is a nine track full length release from Greek black metal band Hordes Of Decay, and a mighty fine album it is too! This is their first release of any kind I think and the band has been going since 2009 so have been honing their sound very nicely indeed. Kicking of with a very nice instrumental intro this album is very decent indeed with some real nice touches to it. Black metal but not by numbers style, they have a bit about them this band and it shows on this album. The vocals by The Saint are nice raspy, evil ones but he also drops down to some really deep ones too, very nice!! J.P. and THC do the guitars on this and there are some really good riffs done by them, drums are by Maelstrom and bass is Sick Mind and mighty fine they are too. This Greek metallers don’t just do black metal though, check out 'Humanitys Last Stand' which is pretty thrashy in parts and indeed there are a bits of thrash throughout this album, really good mix in my opinion!
I like this album a lot, it is a very interesting mix of black and thrash metal and works very well, there is some great guitar work throughout this release with some cracking riffing on it. Check out 'Darkness Land' for some top drumming to set the scene and a great riff, gets the old feet tapping and the head banging, good track! And check out the title track 'The Kings Will Be Ready' for a great mix of thrash and black, good riff and again some manic drumming with the evil raspy vocals adding to the whole effect, great track.
This is a cracking album from a band I had not heard of before, I really enjoyed the mix of pure evil black metal and great outbursts of raw thrash. For a first release it’s a cracker and just makes me want to hear more from this outfit. Beware of Greeks bearing gifts, not if it is Hordes Of Decay, lap them up and enjoy!!!
