Homicide - Annihilation Pit
Hailing from Bangladesh technical death metallers Homicide play with passion and conviction. This debut EP from them gives us 3 full tracks with an introduction piece. What lets this release down is the production on the the drums, if the band didn't use a drum machine in the studio then the kit was triggered to hell. It doesn't sound very authentic. This however is a minor step back as prodution isn't the be all, end all and it's obvious from the song writting that the bands hearts are in the right place and the songs are all pointing in the right direction.
'Reign Of Spartacus' is the highlight with it's awesome riffage and a pretty impressive solo. 'Legion The IXth' also wouldn't sound out of place on a later Deicide album, it comes across as a slightly less extreme version of Nile. The deep growls of vocalist Istiaque fits the band nicely.
All in all it's pretty bog standard death metal. There's nothing spectacular but nothing going terribly wrong either. It's worth checking out but will be interesting to hear a full length album from these guys so we can see what they can really do.
