Gronibard - Satanic Tuning Club Turbo!
Those who hear 'Satanic Tuning Club Turbo!' are in for a bit of a laugh because this music will be unlike anything ever hear... and it's not meant to be serious. While Porncore and Grindcore bands are humorous in the sense they dive as deep into the perverse hole as possible, Gronibard throw together a collection of vulgar tracks as well from their past discography, from split albums to acoustic renditions to MCD's such as the original 'Satanic Tuning Club' which inspired this release. All compiled together is a giant mix of music that is structured around Grindcore, but the music just can't be taken seriously. From the clean wailings to mewings and growls, it is obvious the band is having far too much fun making fun of the genre and inspiring Metal to not take itself so seriously. All in French, the music is a bit hard to understand, but at the same time listeners will probably be laughing too hard to really try to understand it, no matter what language they understand. For the average Metal fan, they may consider this a waste of time though because many tracks just sound like a bunch kids got together and jammed, such as on "T.A.F." For those who take time to listen to at least half the album, they may appreciate the innovation behind what Gronibard is trying to do through their music by making it a bit of a laugh, but for the average person who comes into this album expecting good, extreme music may be a bit disappointed.
For those who have followed Gronibard, this album is pretty much a compilation of all they've done so far. The acoustic renditons add new levels of humor to the music especially since they sound rediculous with a Grindcore setting, but this joke is fresh innovaton. There are also two tracks on flexi as a bonus which are rather easy to pass up; they just sound like jam sessions and are rather senseless, being a pure joke with no sense of having any important purpose at all. The band probably could have done without them in the end as they only take up a small amount of space to where more could have been put on for the sake of the disc. Overall, Gronibard is a band to tread lightly with if seeking a certain type or dynamic in music. It is not for the average Metal fan, or even the eclectic fan. Rather, it is meant for those who can take a joke and appreciate music that has no real direction or purpose except to show that no Metal genre is safe from being made fun of. It's not as tastefully clever as Deathklok and Metalocalypse, but still deserves honorable mention.
