Gorgoroth - Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam

A band that has truly suffered in the name of Satan, Gorgoroth return with a spectacular Black metal release. Overcoming untold difficulties down through the years since their formation in the early 1990's, they only have one remaining original band member and that is the guitarist, Infernus. Using Frost of 1349 and Satyricon to fill in at drums, Gorgoroth put out their first album since 2003's "Twilight Of the Idols."

From the blind rage of the battlefield in the opening track "Wound Upon Wound" to desolate soundscapes such as "Sign of an Open Eye," Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriem runs the gamut of dark emotions and remains true to old school black metal roots as well. The production is clean yet with a good balance of rawness and the instrumentation and vocals are flawless across the board. All in all, a superb black metal release.
