Goatcraft - All For Naught

Goatcraft's "All for Naught" is yet another release by Forbidden Records that starts off in somewhat grand fashion with the track "Call Me Judas". Seemingly epic and symphonic in nature, you are completely drawn in and mesmerized by the story being told in such a great audible awesomeness. Each subsequent track seems to dive deeper into the irretriveable darkness. I don't want to say that this music is ritualistic but you can't help but get this feeling when you play music so powerful and meaningful as this. It's almost like giving lustful praise to the 7 deadly sins whilst dancing in showers of blood from the bleeding heavens. You can also pick up on the heavy classical influence on these tracks despite the modern twist in the construction of such blasphemous beauty. I absolutely love this disc. So cold and unrelenting in its expression oftorment and isolation that it touches my soul deeply.

The assembling of these tracks must have been extremely time consuming and somewhat intricate. If you're going to go the classical/ambient route, then this should be the blueprint as to how it should be done. This CD reminds me a bit of Dargaard, Mortiis and Midnight Sindicate. However, I must say and I mean no disrespect, after hearing this disc Midnight Sindicate might want to take a few notes from Goatcraft. Another point I'd like to make is how this CD reminds me of the work that Xytras did on the bonus disc to Samael's "Passage" album. I really cannot get past how elegant yet powerful and full of passion this disc really is. I was not expecting this at all. I am awesomely impressed and most of all intrigued to hear more of what Goatcraft has to offer.

I will definitely be playing this cd a lot. Don't expect any metal here. The ideology and themes are still there, but instead are presented in some of the best orchestrated, classically inspired tunes I've heard in my life. With that being said, if you're into artists like Dargaard, Mortiis, Midnight Sindicate, Xytras, Vindensang as well as the classical artists then check out Goatcraft "All for Naught". You will "Naught" be disappointed.
