Ghamorean - Terra Ruina

Ghamorean debuted themselves back in 2005 and since them havve kept a steady stream of music every three years to keep the fans happy (note that this band has nothing to do with naming themselves after the aptly titled pig creatures from Star Wars, Gammoreans). With their latest offering, Ghamorean continue their death/ black metal rampage that is a raging, technical firestorm from start to finish. "Towards Pandemonium" uses a raw atmosphere full of tremolo pickings and machine gun fire drums amongst spitting vocals of venom, which merge the cross between a black metal shriek and agonized shout of hatred. The vocals are probably what make this black metal and the instruments death metal. However, not everything in the track is a total annihilation; there are some subliminal melodies buried amongst the raging guitars with the others.

"In Man, A Plague" features a few more breaks than the others tracks and a thick, chugging rhythm that really falls into death metal territory while still retaining that black metal rasp. On the other hand, the chugging tends to get monotonous at times until it picks up during the chorus, and there is even a bell toll in the background. "Iblis" has a slow, raw pace that falls more along the style of a band like the recent Marduk. There are no vocals this time, but the haunting tone of the music is certainly evil enough without them. "Universal Miscreant" also tends to sound a bit like Marduk, especially in the beginning with the low and rumbling bass finally able to be heard. In fact, Ghamorean tends to sound a lot better when they take it slow and demonic rather than just charge straightforward guitars and drums ablazing. Black metal fans will really dig this, and even though it is more basic and straightforward than many black metal bands who tend to use samplings or be experimental just as much as they are raw, Ghamorean are certainly excellent at what they do!
