Extinction Remains - Smog
Extinction Remains are hailing from Brazil. They are active since 2013 and have 1 demo and 2 EP's on their name. This is there new album which is a compilation of their ep's and demo.
Extinction Remains brings you straight in the face death doom metal with a filthy crust sound that reminds me a lot of Acephalix (US). A big dose of Winter (US) in the slower parts. Heavy down tuned guitar riffs combined with a grooving drum and a very deep growl. After the first song you are straight away pulled in a pool rottenness. The songs are heavy and no BS.
A big pile of bands comes running through my mind. This is old school as fuck. Death doom/crust as it should sound. The variety that they bring is fantastic. Faster songs and slower songs but really heavy. And that is only the first 7 songs which are from their demo and first EP. This is exactly what I like to hear. The last 4 songs are a bit more fresh in production and a bit more technical riffs in vain of bands like Krypts and Corpsessed which is also perfect for me haha. The production is also very well done, heavy but every instrument is well mixed.
Since this a compilation of their older releases I am surprised that I never heard of them before. If you like bands like the ones I mentioned then you are going to enjoy this band!
