Exit Humanity - Undead Savior
A zombiefied Jesus on the cover artwork, two inverted crosses on their logo and the mood set to old school. The newborns from Germany reek the air with a stench only bands from the 90s could breed. And yet Exit Humanity can easily bring the stench straight in your nasal glands. It is not just about the way the songs are constructed, or the riffs the boys from Berlin decided to use. It is this roughness on their sound that could easily have them mistaken with a band from back in the day.
"Undead Savior" will definitely bring this aura to the older ones in this genre. It is this almost careless use of technology that wants no shining or brightening to the instruments, leaving a sweet fat sound coming of the speakers. "Undead Savior" title track breaks the ice and what we come upon welcome, is an up tempo, thrashy old school death metal track with a really solid bridge and refrain. A nice break in the middle, solo and off we go for the second one. If Humanity dies is the title and it starts were the first one stopped. Up tempo, rock n roll-ish death metal if I may use the term, with a clever use of wah-wah in a middle riff creating a claustrophobic atmosphere, and then back to beatin. Bands as Entombed and Asphyx will dominate the closet of references once you push the play button, and this is something the guys are not afraid to hide. Their influences are cleverly used in their music creating their own style and this is something hard to do nowadays. Third, fourth and soon after their fifth song and 18 minutes of old school beating, I take the ride again.
“Undead Savior” will not wear you out. It is short and fast but also complete in all aspects. All the elements of old school are there. From the antichristian/antihuman concept in layout and lyrics- to the rough sound of their demo and of course to the songs themselves. Everything belongs back in the 90s. and yet the date is 2014 on this one. Of course the code of honor in these old school releases demand demo ‘TAPES’, and this is why the first edition of "Undead Savior" was a tape version from Weedhunter Records. A little later of course it got released as a CD too from Godeater Records, but I think this tape version should have triggered the curiosity of many cult freaks out there. A really awesome first demo from the bestial trio from Germany and what a nice way to enter the scene. Sink your soul into the abyss with these bastards.
