Embrional - Anihilation
After the release of their debut album "Absolutely Anti-Human Behaviour" in 2012 via the label Old Temple, the Polish death metal squad Embrional presents to the world the re-release of their 2007 demo "Annihilation". Besides the original six tracks, there are also eight live songs as a bonus tracks. If you haven't listened anything from Embrional before, get ready for a loud portion of blackened death metal in the typical Polish tradition. The influence of Immolation is all over the place, just listen to the guitar riffs in 'Murder And Cruelty' or the title track 'Anihilation'. The vocals of Marcin fall somewhere between the grunts of Ross Dolan and those of Glenn Benton. Marcin's growls are supported by the high screams of Ryszard Sosnowski who turned to be an x-member of the Polish black metal horde Besatt. Incantation and Krisiun are two other bands whose influence upon Embrional's music is obvious. Among the six original tracks from the "Annihilation" demo, 'Human Brew' is the one that stands out with its slow doomy pace and melancholic passages. After the six studio tracks come eight live recordings of tracks from the debut album. The last two songs are in Polish language and as far as I can see they are not included in any of the previous releases so you have some previously unreleased stuff on this CD. The live sound is good (although almost nothing is heard from the audience) and proves that Embrional are good musicians. The final track of this CD "Smierz I Zniszczenie" ("Death And Destruction") is actually a medley of old Slayer and Morbid Angel tracks.
As a whole this is not a bad release. For those who like the Polish way of doing death metal, Embrional should be a good choice. Don't expect anything original though....
