Ecnephias - Dominium Noctis
Ecnephias hails from Italy and after their MCD "Novembre" in 2005 they release their debut full length in 2006 called "Dominium Noctis". The album is trip thru the dark in a mix of different styles into tensionable songs. You hear doom, black, death or gothic woven in eachother into melodic and aggressive tunes. They even do so pagan/folkish passages. Grunts are the main vocals but you also get clean background. Keyboards are frequently used and they take a part in the quiet parts and follow the rhythms. But they also give that medieval opening in "Veneficia" while the vocals in that song remind you of Dani Filth. Or what about that oriental religious vocalbreak in "Under The Sign Of The Archangel". And so I can go on for more as this album hide a lot of elements that you have to explore yourself. That is the power of the album it's diversity but that might also be their weak point.
