Display Of Decay - Outbreak Of Infection
I am always expecting something unusual and extraordinary from Canadian metal bands. There are many examples to take like Cryptopsy, Gorguts, Annihilator (if to take trash), and so on, and more - the list is long. Display Of Decay did not disappoint me in this. Indeed, I heard what I expected from a group from Canada, which is already known or becomes known for: originality and individuality.
Judging from what I have read about them, their first album was made in the style of brutal death. In the album "Outbreak Of Infection" also presents a very powerful guitar sound with tuned down guitars. However, personally I would say that it is not heart-rending sound of guitars from brutal death band. The guitar sound is tube and a bit thicker, but still powerful as I said.
Unfortunately, I have not had time to listen to their first album. Now the musicians apparently decided to experiment and made a step towards more schlager death. Especially the last song, 'Black Diamond', and 'Mancherian Candidate' remind the style of bands like Amon Amarth, Amon or Six Feet Under (I emphasize that is meant only the stylistic similarity).
The music of Display Of Decay can hardly be named "teknical death metal". It is rather closer to groove metal and the like styles, but in any case the musicians are on the level. I personally, as a fan of guitar solos, was pleased by crazy guitar changes.
Mostly the music is not very high-speed. On the contrary there are plangent riffs on this album, such overextended, as if the time had stopped. There are also not a quick blast beats for shot down rhythms fans, that do not fit into the usual four quarters.
Thus, as already mentioned, the group Display Of Decay has put itself on a certain pedestal. The first premonition of what it will be something individual, justified. The creativity of Display Of Decay interested me. I want to go back and listen to the first album.
