Diamond Drive - Temporality
Hailing from Denmark lies Diamond Drive; An upcoming fresh sounding heavy metal quintet. The band's latest offering, a twelve-tracked album titled 'Temporality', which focuses on the band's solid song structure, evolving the hard rock side into an almost metalcore substitute.
Almost sounding like metalcore giants Killswitch Engage at times, or even early Sacred Mother Tongue but with their own twists, forcing them stand out. The album's instrumental progression throughout is polished off nicely with a grand production, separating each spiralling riff into their own categories, only to be worshiped by. 'Deceiving' is a perfect example of these out-of-control riffs, battling countlessly trying to snap up the attention of any listeners whilst clean sung vocals soar, then rapidly ignite into a screechy scream - delivering passion along with brutality.
'Five Stages' is able to stand-out with it's darkened opening riffs which reveal the band's inner secrecy to surprise and keep me interested almost halfway through the album. 'The Process' is able to continue surprising, using a more melodic approach, diving into new territories for the band. 'Clarity' reborns the aggression in the record, whilst 'Down The Drain' proves as an album favourite, combining elemental riffs, thundering drums, and clearly sung vocals, both screamed and sung cleanly.
If success is granted through diversity, then I think Diamond Drive deserve some great recognition from this album. Despite not usually my cup of tea when it comes to genres, the band are able to create interesting factors of so many styles and directions that there's something here for everybody to enjoy, with very little to complain about. Drowning Pool meets Every Time I Die, for fans of thrash, core, and hard rock, all of which will totally appreciate the band's capability to seduce listeners of almost every alternative genre possible to name.
