Common Dead - Allegorize
The other tracks tend to blend together in their style. "Most People" tends to repeat itself with the riffs a bit much- but repetition is the only weakness that the album presents with some of the songs. Compared to other tracks like "Suffer..." the guitar based songs just don't seem as varied or as strong. Other tracks like "Venture In Blood" try to go for a more slower approach and just chug along, but it just seems a bit dulled down compared to other faster pieces like "Fathomless." Even the keyboard sounds out of place with their insetion right in the middle as a 'moment of ambiance.' It doesn't blend as well as it does on some of the other tracks. "Enlightenment" features a great mix of Melo-death and Thrash, but what really makes this track stand out is the moment of solo drumming. It is brief, but gives the track a good amount of life while amongst the keyboards and guitars together. One thing Laurenson seems to hold back on is the clean vocals; they were used in more abundance with the previous effort and here they feel a bit restrained. Of course, the growls and shrieks and bellows are not disappointing at all and go with the music quite well. Before, in more of the Modern Metal attempts things sounded a bit too close to Five Finger Death Punch. Here, Laurenson really comes into his own sound in vocals along with the music. Overall, the effort here stands strong and is a definite recommendation for those who like Thrash based music with Death Metal vocals that could be compared to Legion Of The Damned or even Dead To This World.
