Carnival in Coal (France) is not nice for album reviewers who want to keep it short because the list of styles featured on this album is endless. The "over the top"-ness lies in the twists of style from metal to funk and dark atmospheric blackmetal into classical electro pop or speed thrashing grindcore and industrial punk or whatever. Some songs sound like they stick to one style but the unexpected changes are really unexpected so don't sit back and try to fall asleep. The styles featured are performed with humour but also with a sense for feeling and technique. This is progressive, funny, intelligent and crazy...there's a party at your house tonight.
