Blood Eagle - To Ride In Blood & Bathe In Greed II
Some say that they are a Danish supergroup and others say that they're just brought together to make music and drink beers, but we all can agree that these music veterans just make a lot of good old death metal. Formed in 2010 after a jam session whom involved the founding members Mircea (guitars) and Franz (guitars) Blood Eagle has rissen to be a household name in the European metal scene.
When the first song ideas where created in 2011 the other members Mikael (bass guitar) and Morten (drums) already had joined the band. Blood Eagle kept playing and perfecting their sound throughout 2011 and went to the studio in 2012. Without a singer but still recorded the first 5 songs in a few days because Mnemic was finished recording a few days before the deadline. But Blood Eagle was still nameless and did not had a singer, after a few attempts the band finally got a singer Micheal. After that the band took the name Blood Eagle.
They unleashed their sound in 2013 at the Aalborg Metal Festival and a month later Blood Eagle's first album "Kill Your Tyrants" was releashed and the great thing was that it was free to download. The band payed a lot of shows in Europe but after a few line-up changes, getting grey hears and kids the band decided to lower their activity in 2016. But in 2018 Blood Eagle regrouped and got signed by Nuclear Blast.
In 2019 the band decided to release their new work as 3 different EPs instead of one album, Part one of "To Ride In Blood & Bathe In Greede" was well received and now Part II is also available to the listener. The Second part of the trilogy kicks off with the song 'Eyes Sewn Shut' a brutal five minute song with heavy guitars and vocals. The bass and drums in this song make a good platform for the guitars to build upon and just make you want to bang your head. The song has some changing parts but always comes together with blast beats, drum fills and brutal guitar riffs.
Another song that I really like is the song 'For Those Who Remain' because again it just has a lot of sheer brutality. The song starts with guitars but after a few seconds the drums kick in and when the vocals are starting in this song the whole piece comes together. The flow between the different riffs and parts in this song is very natural and it works. The vocals are amazing and the guitars are very good co-operating in this song with their riffs. The bass guitar adds some more heaviness and brutality to this track and finally the drums with the blast beats and grooves makes it complete. The last part of the song is also very nice, after the breakdown the song continues but when the instruments stop the vocals are fading away and the second part of the "To Ride In Blood & Bathe In Greed" is over.
The second part really fits in with the first part of the EP releases and I begin to understand why the band decided to make the decision to not release one album. The reason why is because I cant wait to hear the third part, it makes me very curious how brutal it will be. The album mastering and recording is of good quality. This important factor will make it pleasant or unpleasant to listen to an album. The overal performance on this album from the musicians is very good, the songs are tight and don't give a sloppy feeling. It is yet another important thing when you are making extreme music. The songs are all sounding very familiar to each other, it is thing I did not like about the album but its is just a small thing because the sheer good old school death metal sound on this album is just awesome.
Now let's wait for the third and final part of "To Ride In Blood & Bathe In Greed".
