Bleeding Display - Deviance

So just a little before fuckin 2015 breaks in, I find myself listening to this second full length from these Portuguese demons. Never actually came upon a death metal band from Portugal in my knowledge (or I am too fuckin drunk to remember), so the fact that those guys can play really excites me. So after a short industrial-ish intro their music hits me for real and what I come upon is well played death metal, modern and precise, under a really good production. So what is left for someone to ask? Well for someone who keeps his standards as far as the beating goes, "Deviance" is a really nice example of how death metal should sound in age 2014. Sharp riffs, fat and tight bass following their lead, growling vocals and relentless drumming with various embellishments. The whole thing reeks of reference bands as Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Vader and all those beasts from back in the day. Of course their influences are imprinted really well in their music and no one will get bothered by a track reminding Cannibal or another reminding of Deicide.

On the contrary. They are filtered so well to make em their own, forming their own style in the genre. All get’s tied up together in a great packaging and the story goes on. The problem with it starts when someone(usually the older freaks in this type of xtreme music), seeks creativity and something different. Although "Deviance" is well placed and really flows, on the same time it isn’t anything different than what tons of death metal bands seem to give out nowadays. I mean... it all comes to the question of what is it that you seek in music. If someone is well going and just wants something to fill his ears with, then Bleeding Display is definitely a band he’ll go along well. The ones that call themselves purists though might find themselves a bit hard to follow. The truth is that "Deviance" is not the album to change your views on death metal, neither the one to haunt your stereo system for a long time. It is though a really nice effort, and a CD that can be listened without sweat, over and over again. And that my friends is a quality itself in music.
