Blaze Of Perdition - The Burning Will Of Expansion
These Polish Black Metal purists were formed in 2007 out of the ashes of Perdition (Pol), this band previous ran for 3 years. This limited edition 7 inch record is part of a run of a mere 500 copies. Featuring two exclusive songs this black metal horde are of the style that is pure, there is no lo-fi necro rubbish, pure power generating atmospherics of the genre defined classics born out of Norway and Sweden at the turn of the 90’s. You could say this has a slightly melodic sound, they encompass all the chord structures of bands like Watain, mid-to-late period Immortal, or Koldbrann’s slower moments, there is no reason why this band cannot be uttered in the same breath as those aforementioned masters along. Mixing the tempo between mid-paced head nodding to the faster side of all things evil, there are no real sound effect gimmicks or uber-fast kick drumming that does nothing but cause your ears to bleed. ‘The Burning Will of Expansion’ musically coerces an atmosphere, an experience which is very rewarding to the lucky listener. I am not a black metal purist, but of this style, this pretty much hits the mark on all counts. Sonneillon’s vocals are palatable and clear, often a downside in black metal circles for me is the inability to hear the vocals, or at least make them out without reverting to a lyric sheet, and fortunately non-such difficulty is encountered on this release.
In short, a pure nod to the black metal originators, encapsulating tunes with a definite sense of evil, occultism and all that lovely stuff!
