Bitchfork - Zombie Cows From Outer Space
So this is my fifth review now and have to say… This one is kind of rough, it’s difficult to express a cd you don’t really like. But since it’s only my opinion I’m going to try being mild about this one. Bitchfork from Austria presenting their first full-length named "Zombie Cows From Outer Space", launched by Splatter Zombie Records. Farmgrind is what they claim to play (thinking about Birdflesh, also because one of the song titles called: 'The Farmers Wrath') with a lot of reverences to deathmetal, gore and a small twitch of black metal. Also reverence me to Birdflesh, because they are the masters in doing that. So musically these guys are doing a great job. They also recorded a self-titled demo on their own with 5 songs also present on this full length. They're pretty active and if you’re curious about them, the mighty Fuck The Commerce Festival is working on a way back and added Bitchfork to the line-up.
So what do we hear? It’s a heavy sound, very low guitar and bass work, drums are mixed pretty well (lovely moisty bass sound) and the musical compositions are pretty ok too. Where it go’s wrong for me is the pitched vocals. Way over the top, to monotone and it’s infecting the musical experience I want to have. Every time a songs starts to get interesting for me the pitched vocals rips me out my mood like a fly in a delicious made soup. It ruins the feeling of having a proper starter. March of Bitchfork is the best song for me because and yes, it’s an instrumental song…
It’s not my cup of tea and bores quit fast…but have to say that the songs musically are well written. So if you like monotone Rompeprop vocals like 24/7 in a mix of groovy, blasting drum rhythms guided by heavy pounding guitars and bass riffs. Well, then this cd fits you like a glove!
